Guideline for facilitators to conduct awareness sessions

Manual/Guideline for Conducting Awareness Sessions with Children, Youth, and Communities on Children’s Fundamental Rights, Freedom of Expression, and Prevention of Online/Offline Sexual Exploitation
With a view to taking urgent measures to protect human rights, ensure digital safety, and create a supportive environment for freedom of expression among children and youth, this manual/guideline will assist in leading regular meetings/awareness sessions at the community level under the “Speak Up” project. It aims to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for children regarding digital and real-life safety, protection of rights, accountability, and ethical discussions. In light of this, clear instructions will be provided to conduct regular meetings/awareness sessions with quality. Additionally, this guideline/manual will assist children and youth in strengthening digital safety, reporting, and support systems, as well as preparing them for rights-based, inclusive online participation.

Purpose of the Manual:

  • To provide clear instructions for selected CSO (Civil Society Organization) and Change Agent members to conduct regular meetings/awareness sessions with quality.
  • To raise awareness at the community level regarding child rights, human rights protection, digital safety, and creating a free, supportive environment for their freedom of expression.
  • To create a safe environment for children to express their opinions freely and participate in decision-making processes.
  • To strengthen measures for preventing any form of abuse, sexual harassment, and exploitation against children (both online and offline).
  • To identify child victims of any form of abuse and to strengthen and make effective the immediate response and referral mechanisms.
