Thirty newly recruited staff from Breaking the Silence (BTS), Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), and INCIDIN Bangladesh took part in a day-long capacity-building session on project MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) on 9 July 2025 at the YWCA Conference Room, Mohammadpur, Dhaka.

Facilitated by Md. Nurul Kabir, the session gave project staff — many newly deployed under “Speak Up!” — a practical grounding in how to plan, monitor, and report on the project’s progress in line with Terre des Hommes Netherlands and EU donor requirements.

From project basics to practical tools

The day opened with an introduction to the “Speak Up!” project and its objectives, before moving into the fundamentals of MEAL and how it connects to day-to-day programme implementation. Participants then worked through the project’s monitoring framework and process in detail, followed by sessions on the wider project monitoring mechanism and on reporting and documentation practices.

The afternoon covered key project tools, including the Child Safeguarding Risk Assessment (CSRA), the Partner and Organisational Capacity Assessment Tools (PCAT/OCAT), and the Programme Accountability Framework (PAF), before closing with a session on capturing case stories and best practices from the field.

Setting staff up for quality delivery

The workshop closed with participants agreeing on next steps: the required templates, progress-tracking sheets, and supporting documents would be shared with all project staff, with an open line to Terre des Hommes Netherlands for further support to ensure quality implementation going forward.
